Porsche Logistics Research Presentation
Project Type
Research
Date
February 2024 - May 2024
Location
Marquette University, Milwaukee Wisconsin
During my Operations and Supply Chain Management class at Marquette University, I had the opportunity to dive into Porsche’s logistics operations for a six-week research project. From the start, my team and I were intrigued by how a prestigious brand like Porsche manages such a complex global supply chain, maintaining its reputation for quality while facing modern challenges like sustainability.
We began by exploring the web of Porsche’s material sourcing and distribution networks, aiming to uncover potential inefficiencies. Supplier quality assurance and environmental responsibility were key aspects we knew Porsche prioritized, and we wanted to ensure our analysis stayed true to their high standards. Our main goal was to find areas where Porsche could reduce lead times and operational costs without compromising their dedication to excellence.
One of the more unexpected challenges we faced was accessing detailed, proprietary information about Porsche’s operations. Despite this, we were able to use publicly available data and industry case studies to build a comprehensive picture of their logistics landscape. We identified opportunities for Porsche to enhance warehouse management and boost sustainability by forging stronger relationships with suppliers committed to eco-friendly practices.
As the project progressed, I took the lead on data analysis, combing through available information to pinpoint actionable insights. Meanwhile, my teammates focused on qualitative research and refining the final presentation. When we finally delivered our findings, we were met with positive feedback. Our suggestions—ranging from warehouse improvements to deeper supplier partnerships—offered realistic, practical ways for Porsche to optimize their logistics while continuing to prioritize quality and sustainability.
Reflecting on the project, it was more than just research. It was a chance to collaborate, problem-solve, and think critically about how to tackle real-world supply chain challenges. The experience not only strengthened my analytical skills but also highlighted how essential teamwork is when facing complex issues like these.
